Joel 2:12

Joel 2:12 – return to me with all your heart

“Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.” – Joel 2:12 (NIV)
This is an important part of repentance. Don’t just feel bad for what you did; return to God with all your heart. Repentance should be marked with true sorrow and urgency, for sin creates insensitivity in our soul towards God. Do you feel pain over sin? That is a good sign! Turn to God quickly and be healed. Do you feel nothing at all over sin? Cry out to God to soften your heart, for you have been deadened in your heart, and any dullness toward sin also creates dullness toward joy. It is when we are able to face the pain of our sin that we can receive the joy of God’s healing. This renews a heart to return to God.
